“There’s an arc of Shakespearean tragedy: Biden, who was once on track to be a relatively well-regarded historical figure, as King Lear, his judgment clouded by some combination of old age and pride.” Nate Silver I voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016. I voted for Amy Klobuchar in the 2020 primary. And when I voted in the 2020 presidential election I made a point to say I was voting for Kamala Harris as vice president.
I thought Biden was going to be a transitional candidate. I thought he’d be a one term president BY CHOICE. When he announced his reelection campaign, I was devastated. I didn’t want a 2020 rematch. I wasn’t quite a double hater, but I was annoyed and frustrated. I’m not a low-information vote. I am over-information voter. I check both the NYT and New York Post and dozens of other award-winning news and sleazy tabloid sources to make sure I see it all. Biden’s inability to undergo cognitive testing is a huge red flag. Biden’s overconfidence that he’s the only person who can beat Trump is another huge red flag. Biden’s ability to accept a defeat to Trump if he does as good a job (or “goodest” depending on which transcript you read) is a huge red flag. Biden’s inability to elevate Harris until Roe vs. Wade was overturned because he doesn’t want to say the word abortion is a huge red flag. FDR lied to the public about his health during his final campaign, but he rallied and did a bunch of press conferences, won reelection and DIED WITHIN A YEAR. This is not going to end well. I’m just putting that out there now so I can say I told you so. I could write a better script for Biden. He needs to acknowledge that people are terrified and worried. He can’t be like Trump and think that he alone can fix this. He can’t make this a case between “elites” and “voters.” There are millions of voters for Trump, doesn’t make them the voice of reason either. What has consumed me about the aftermath of this debate is that I believe many Democrats are acting like Republicans and being completely delusional, unable or unwilling to see or seek the truth. Diehard democrats would vote for a dead Biden over Trump. If your base is saying they’d vote for you if you were in a coma or a wheelchair of if it was just your head in a jar a blue liquid that’s telling me anyone on the Democrats ticket would have the same chance against Trump. There’s nothing magical or divine about Biden that makes him our only option. A thorough physical, mental, and cognitive health examination done today would clearly show a problem, that’s why he won’t do it. Why won’t Biden support Kamala Harris (and an open call for her running mate)? I don’t get it. Why is his ego and pride so much more important than doing the right thing? Age is just a number, but there must be a reason for his performance at the debate and his inability to show up in unscripted press conferences throughout his entire presidency. The fact that he’s been insulated with just a few key staff and family for years is very telling. So guess what? I’m now a double hater. I’ll support Kamala in 2024 as I did in 2020, but I have lost all respect for Biden. I will not be shocked if there is another event like the debate, but one that is much worse. It’s absolutely inevitable. It’s just a matter of when it happens and if it’s too late. Further Reading:
